Girls trip to Maui!

Three weeks ago a girlfriend of mine from high school called and asked if I'd be interested in taking a girls trip to Maui that coming weekend. Alan was headed to Vegas that weekend with the guys to play baseball so this decision was a no brainer! I LOVE Hawaii so much and was in desperate need of a tan. I was concerned because my morning (noon and night) sickness has been getting worse and keeping me down quite a bit. I figured, lay on my couch watching tv feeling sick or lay on the beach getting some much needed sun and be sick? It was decided. My friend Erika, her co worker Danelle, my sister Laralee and I packed our bags and took off for Maui. We had such an amazing time! I haven't laughed that hard, that long in a while. We were quite obnoxious! I got really lucky too because I felt great our whole trip. I was pretty exhausted but didn't feel nauseous. My baby is good to me! That all changed the day we got home, I was back on the couch feeling worse than before we left but it was all worth it! We spent our days lounging on the beach, wearing pretty much nothing but our swimsuits the whole trip and never once bothered to put make up on or even get ready. (We did shower daily however. Just throwin that in there.)

We took many pictures of our trip and I tried to narrow them down.

The amazing view close to our hotel.

We spent most our time at the beach. Every day till around 3 or 4. That was when the wind kicked up and it would get so cold. I would sleep on the beach while the others did some snorkeling. I was much too tired to do anything but soak up sun and fall asleep. Heaven!

We ran into a little situation our first night there. After the beach, we showered and decided to grab some dinner. We got in our rental car and I went put the top down and it got stuck. The trunk was just there hanging in the air as passer byers just laughed, some trying to help. We spent most our night trying to fix it and then waiting for the rental company to bring us a new car. By the time it was all said and done, it was almost 1 a.m. our time. We had quite the adventure trying to fix this car.

In the end we got a much better car any way.

We did a little whale watching. So bummed I didn't get any pictures but it was such a cool experience. I'm so glad we got to do it. We saw one whale jump out of the water do a flip and land on its back. Then we witnessed a baby whale with its mama playing in the water. Apparently baby whales gain 100 lbs a day while mama whale loses hundreds of pounds feeding her little one. There isn't food for them in Hawaii, so that is why they lose so much weight. In the end, it's a third of their body weight they lose. Another interesting fact: The male whale doesn't stick around after he gets the female pregnant. When she delivers her baby, other males try to win the attention of the female. They call these their 'escorts'. I guess mama whales are wanted by the males. Unfortunately, no matter how hard these males try to win over the females, they usually don't pick any of them. They are quite picky creatures. Pretty interesting.
As you can tell, it got so windy and a bit cold.

After an hour of watching, I was a little tuckered out. So I took a good long nap on the boat. These days, I can fall asleep anywhere. Is it this normal to be this tired being pregnant? I need a nap every day!

This picture cracks me up! Nights were pretty chilly and we practically lived in our swimsuits and swimsuit cover ups. We didn't have sweatshirts so we improvised. Sexy, I know!

Our many poses for the camera

Our second day there we met up with one of my very close friends, Bryn, who just so happened to be in Maui that week with her family.

We hit up some frozen yogurt. One of the workers made this one and just gave it to us. Bryn gets free stuff everywhere we go. I need to learn what her secret is!

Our daily routine was to hit the up the ABC Store and then the beach. As we walked up to the store one day, we saw this car. Was it a joke? We were dying! The owner came up and I told him he had an interesting car and if we could take pictures. He told us his ex girlfriend owed him money so she just gave him her car. He decided to deck it out. That he did! I bet you've never seen a car quite like this before? Still makes me laugh looking at these pictures.

Is there anything better than coke Slurpee's when you are pregnant and sick? It's one of the only things that settle my stomach. I've been living off these since I've been pregnant. Unfortunately! Not the healthiest choice but I'll eat anything right now that calms my stomach.

You can't go to Hawaii and not get a Lava Flow. They are these amazing drinks that consist of pina colada's and strawberry syrup. On my honeymoon (which was also spent in Maui) Alan and drank one every day by the pool. Mmmm! We enjoyed plenty of these on this trip!

This was such a fun trip and it was really hard to come back home to the cold weather and to slowly watch my tan fade away. Now I keep begging Alan to take me on a cruise! The sun is so addicting, isn't it? He's dying to go to so hopefully we'll be going on a cruise in the next month or two. Alan really needs a vacation and I'm willing to do that for him. ;)
